On a really foggy day (which made the visit a spooky one) we decided to go and visit Oakwood house. We came once before but couldn't gain access to the site.

This house has literally no information on it, i like to call these " AOXIA-houses" (AOXIA being a term for something that has no info).

Its almost as if it doesn't even exist or somebody is trying to hide its history, the only bit of info that i could find is that it is called "Oakwood House" and it was built in the early 1900s (the same time as the school next door).

A friend who lives nearby also told me that it was used as a cannabis factory a few years back and armed police where seen carrying bags of illegal firearms from the premises.

The house was split into two halves at some point, with a smaller side which could have been servants quarters

This site was a nightmare to access as the entire building is surrounded by a 8ft wall and has nearly been swallowed up by a jungle of bramble bushes, trees and other plants. But after two visits we eventually gained access via the rear garden (which is really big and overgrown).

As we made our way into the house we was greeted with major decay, high ceilings, big fireplaces beautiful archways and a room with a big curved end .

There was a serving hatch in the wall and the kitchen Cupboards still have food, cup handles (but no cups) and plates in that have been there for some time, we know this because we found a jar of old burger relish that was dated for 2003. i was tempted to open it for some odd reason but my senses got the better of me.

As we moved deeper into the house there laid remnants of a stained glass window (the only colour picture in this report), some nice old light fittings hanging from the ceilings which look like they could fall at any moment and a big curved staircase with beautifully guided iron handrails. we also found a London underground ticket from 1997.

up to the second floor we go..... the landing was all rotten so we had to be very careful where we stepped, the bedrooms where all trashed and all the windows where smashed.

In one of the rooms there was various junk laid out on the floor including an old quadskate, plug in radiators and an old pair of teeth

we decided to go up to the attic to have a mooch. All the slates from the roof where gone, exposing the wooden framework. there was a work bench and a old sewing table up there along with other stuff like a record player and a kids toy pram.

After we had been up to the attic made our way to the smaller half of the house. We had a little nose and headed up to the second floor where we faced a proverbial wall, a broken staircase.

we got up to the second floor and came to the conclusion that it was too dangerous and we called it a day, and a successful one at that! (apart from not finding any info on the site).

Thank you for taking the time to read my report on Oakwood House and i hope you enjoyed it.
